January 4, 2011

The design shop responsible for the the logo for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro have denied that they plagiarized the design from the Telluride Foundation – a Colorado based charity co-chaired by former US military commander Norman Schwazkopf. Fred Gelli, director of design agency Tati claimed that his firm had performed extensive research to make sure the Olympic logo design was original, but conceded some similarities to the Telluride logo.

“For some reason we missed that one,” said Gelli.

Gelli also denied suggestions that the Olympic logo bore similarities in concept to Henri Matisse‘s painting The Dance.
